Bilecik is an important province in Ottoman history as it was from here that the Ottomans rose up against the Byzantines. It is a somewhat isolated province which has not shown much spiritual fruit. You can help.
Bilecik has historically been hard soil to plough. In the 1980s, thousands of Gospel letters were mailed to addresses in Bilecik province but there has been almost no fruit. Romans 11:14 might be a good verse to pray for Bilecik: “For I want somehow to make the people of Israel jealous of what you Gentiles have, so I might save some of them.” This could be true for Bilecik because God has brought together a vibrant fellowship of believers – from many different countries but not really from Turkey! Refugees in Turkey are assigned by the government to cities across the country – and the ones that have been assigned to Bilecik have found each other and have formed a fellowship. This is wonderful. But now our prayer must be that this will make the Turks jealous! Due to lack of language, it is difficult for these refugees to reach out to Turks; or bad experiences have made them wary. Let’s pray that the joy and truth in these lives would overflow to the Turks they know. Believers from Eskişehir are keen to visit any interested contacts – let’s pray them busy!
